Andy Sinclair is a true friend to the environment. As government relations specialist for ENERGY STAR & Utilities, Sinclair manages relationships with utilities, nongovernmental organizations, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency for Whirlpool. He is strongly committed to his profession and enjoys the fact that his role at Whirlpool helps protect the world we live in.

He spends his days answering internal and external inquiries regarding energy efficiency and utility strategies. As Whirlpool's energy guru, heÃ???s generally able to address energy issues from a number of perspectives.

"Most people make an effort to be 'energy efficient.' This may mean turning off lights, driving a more efficient vehicle, or using higher efficient appliances," notes Sinclair. "However, people see 'energy conservation' as being inconvenient. It's all in how you look at it. We all can, and probably already do, make small changes to conserve energy because we want to save money. But doing so also helps save the environment."

Sinclair joined Whirlpool during 2005 and in this time has helped provide a strong backbone to his department, which is a two-time winner of the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award and seven-time recipient of the ENERGY STAR Appliance Partner of the Year Award. Sinclair holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences and is experienced and persuasive when it comes to consulting on a variety of issues, which makes him a perfect liaison between the nation's utilities and Whirlpool Corporation.

Sinclair's expertise comes from years of experience. Prior to joining Whirlpool, he advised residential consumers on energy efficiency techniques and electric technologies at Public Service Indiana, an electric utility. In years past, Sinclair worked at the State of Indiana Department of Commerce and Montgomery County Economic Development, attracting business and industry to the state and assisting existing industries with their expansion. Sinclair also advised utilities on energy efficient technologies at United Technologies Carrier Corporation and played a role in utility marketing and energy efficiency initiatives.
